My Trip To Paris

Tomatoes from the farmer’s market in Paris

Yeah! I’m back. Finally a post to my site! Things have been super crazy in my world and things are finally slowing down to a fast crawl. First of all, check out the new web design! I’m so excited that I can hardly stand it! Let me know what you think, I would love your feedback! We worked on it through the month of April and launched it the day before I left for Europe! YES! I said Europe. We got home last week from one amazing trip abroad.

First stop a was week in Paris! Wow! What a city. We were lucky enough to meet up with forever friends while they were vacationing there as well. That was just cool but equally as cool was to spend time and experience the city with them. We stayed in a quaint boutique hotel on Isle St. Louis which was about a five minute walk to Notre Dame. What a great part of town. Totally charming, with lots of great shops, little cafe’s, fun people watching and tasty restaurants. We saw most of the touristy things, The Louvre, Champs Elysees, the Eiffel Tower, a boat trip down the Seine River, the museum D’orsy and Versailles to name a few.  I’m just so enthralled with history and we certainly got our lesson in French history while we were there, it’s just mind boggling!

In Paris, you walk everywhere, so it seems that we could be in another part of town in ten to twenty minutes by foot. So we walked and  spent an entire day checking out the different farmer’s markets and boutique food stores.  They are everywhere! In Paris, you buy the food that you need for a day or two. There are no supermarkets. People stop at a bakery, a cheese shop, a fruit and vegetable stand etc. and buy what they need and what they can use. They don’t let anything go to waste and only buy the freshest of ingredients.  This would NEVER happen in America. We are always so busy that we rarely slow down enough to stop and smell a tomato! Present company included.  Gosh, if we could even live our lives 20% like a French person, we really all would be better off. Fresh food, nothing processed, no chemicals in their food, wine (even at lunch), foie gras…. must I go on.  It’s a simpler way of life and one, in my opinion one worth trying to emulate!  So that being said, here are some fun pictures from our foody part of the field trip! Next stop, Croatia!

People in France really do foie gras on a daily basis. This is the good stuff. I brought some home!
